Please help me : WDK installation failed in Windows XP

Hi All

I am new to the Windows Driver Development.

I have downloaded the 6.1.6001.18002.081017-1400_wdksp-WDK18002SP_EN_DVD.iso from connect website

I burned 6.1.6001.18002.081017-1400_wdksp-WDK18002SP_EN_DVD.iso to CD and tried to install on Windows XP SP2.
But after installing some components KitSetup.exe shows an error with “installed
subcomponents that are not needed by any of your configured kit components…”.

I pressed ‘OK’ for this after reading the information message on the KitSetup’s right side.It says it will remove these components and rerun will solve the problem.

But I tried it again…but no use…

Please help me…

I’ve had that happen to me multiple times. Usually, removing the product
completely (including the Windows Debuggers) and then attempting to
reinstall have solved the problems.

I think you can ‘fix’ this by first installing the most recent version of .NET, whatever that is.
The reason that ‘fix’ is in quotes is because, in my experience, pretty much every time I am forced
to upgrade .NET, something breaks.

Good luck,

mm

Did you manage to install it? Could you please give me some tips, as I’m experiencing the same issues.

Sigh. You are responding to a ten year old post by somebody who is no longer a member. Think he’s gonna reply?

I don’t.

Please do no reply to old posts.
