Hidden filesystem

Does Windows provide a way to create and access a hidden filesystem on a separate storage unit, that a filesystem/filter driver etc can attach to and send r/w requests. But does not show up with a symbolic link or a \device\harddiskxx.

Hmmmm…. You need to be a bit more specific. How “hidden”? Like “my mom can’t see a drive letter” or “we need to be certain that state-sponsored actors can’t find it during a forensic analysis”?

And who would access it (user mode, kernel mode), and how would they access it, if there’s no symbolic link? By GUID… or by virtue of the fact that they’re in the stack?

Lay out your goals for us… and ask us the root problem you’re trying to solve, please.
