Mailing List Archives

Are the archives for this mailing list downloadable from anywhere?

The archives at the ftp sites for both osr and atria stop at feb 2000
(ntfsd.0002)

I have found a local copy of the mailing list archive invaluable when
digging for information in the past.

I have them, as does Peter at OSR. I’m working off and on at bringing
up the searchable database on the ntfsd.org site same as I have them
at www.ntdev.org. Sorry it’s taking so long!

If you cant wait I can place them on the ntfsd ftp site…?

This will mean the archives can only be searched using the web interface?

I have been using the developer studio ‘find in files’ to search my local
copy of the archive.

Will the ability to download the archives be available again?

We weren’t planning to create standard “listserv” style archives for this
list.

We DO intend to import the old archives, all the way back to the beginning
of time, into the Lyris database so the complete archive will be searchable
via the http://www.osr.com/lists.htm web interface. We are also working on
having the additional capability to search NTFSD, NTDEV, The NT Insider
back articles, the OSR knowledge base, and perhaps even the MS Knowledge
Base with one command via the OSR web site.

Creating listserv style archives from this list is a manual process. If
there is an overwhelming demand from the subscribers to the list for these
archives we will create them. If no such hew and cry is raised, people who
want an archive will need to create their own.

Requests to xxxxx@lists.osr.com, please.

I, too, would vote for having downloadable archives. Like Rob,
I have tools I use for searching locally which are faster than
using the Web.

Best regards,

I’ll keep zipped copies on the ntfsd.org ftp server, but like
everything else it will take me a while to get around to it.
Gotta get the basic site running first, but I do have the archives
in the right format and a way to automate creating them.

I’m raising hews (even if I don’t know what they are) and cries.

Yes please!! The downloadable archives are very useful. The web server
search capability is very unsophisticated at present, e.g. it lacks boolean
search facilities like AND, NEAR etc.
