I need to obtain the device instance id or something that I can use to
identify a particular instance of a device to the SetupDiXxx / CM_Xxx
functions. As input I have a device name or just the SCSI address.
There was a similar thread (“PDO to device instance ID”) days ago, but I
don’t even have the PDO and I am in user mode only.

BTW:
In W2K if you select properties of a drive in explorer and switch to the
hardware tab, it looks like the responsible developer at microsoft did not
find a way either.
