zero length file name when querying for the name of a related fil- e object

Hello,
I’ve noticed that occasionally a query for FileNameInformation to
NTFS will return a “null” name (a name with a zero length) even though the
subject file object represents a valid, open directory. This happens when
the file server (SRV) opens a file with a zero length name relative to some
directory. If I then query for the relative file’s name, I recieve a zero
length name.
I’ve observed that normally a filename query to a file object opened
relative to another file object returns the fully qualified path or the
relative file object. Is there a special case when the related file object
was opened “relative to itself” (i.e. RelatedFileObject.FileName = “\Dir”
FileObject.FileName = “”)?
