WMI functions in DDK XP

Hi,
In Win2k SDK there were the WinUm.h header and WmiP.lib library that
presented c-style( not COM ) access to the WMI functions.
I did not found anything like this in WinXP DDK and also the
documentation for these API disappeared from MSDN. I also did not found
any information that these function are obsolete - they simple
disappeared.
Can you please point me to
-any documentation on these APIs?
-if is - substantial( but not COM ) APIs?
-Any possibility to use WMI in a simple C application?

These are undocumented functions and not for public consumption. The
COM stuff isn’t too bad if you have a sample to start with, also
accessing WMI via C# or windows scripting host (like a vb script) is
rather easy.

Hi,
1.Can you recommend a sample with events( p-states ) handling?
2.As I understand, using the COM interface for events required from my
application to become COM server. Is it right?
2.Do you know, is these accesses very CPU consuming?

  1. I don’t have any offhand, did you try looking through the entire
    DDK?
  2. I don’t know, but if so, I think it is a local COM server, the WBEM
docs should be more clear (and you might want to look in the platform
SDK or the WBEM SDK (if that still exists).
  3. it should not affect performance, this stuff is rather low overhead
compared to the rest of what is going on in the OS
