windows XP prefetch

Hello All,

I am wondering what is stored in the windows XP prefetch (.pf) files under
the folder \windows\prefetch.
It there way to know what is stored in NTOSBOOT-B00DFAAD.pf? any one knows.

I am thinking our RAID controller has large cache can prefetch as well ahead
of time based upon the contents of NTOSBOOT-B00DFAAD.pf (if we know what is
stored in it) and help bootup XP even faster

Any thoughts?

I appreciate
Shakeel.

These are prefetch files.
The idea is to make the boot process (in XP and above) faster than it was in
w2k.

Re-read 4th edition of Mark’s bible, pp. 458 et al. (“Logical Prefetcher”)
and/or look at Strings.exe
from www.sysinternals.com or just google for NTOSBOOT-B00DFAAD and you’ll
hit
quite a list of hits, http://mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=41290 is
just one of
them.

Regards,
Alex Shvedov
