Windows Hardware Dev Center overhaul

Hi everybody,

The WDK documentation team, the WHCK doc team, and the ADK/deployment doc team have just finished spending the better part of the last year going through the entire Hardware Dev Center and everything in it.

We’ve done our best to get rid of every web page or whitepaper link that was out of date, redundant, or otherwise not worth keeping. (The caveat is that, for the most part, we didn’t remove whitepapers from the Download Center, at least for now; we just removed our links to them.) We also reorganized the whole site and redid a bunch of the top-level pages.

The new, improved HW Dev Center went live late yesterday. Take a look at it and let me know what you think. I know I can trust you guys to give me the plain, unvarnished truth.

Best regards,

–Diane

I’ve got to say… The new WHDC site is gorgeous. AND I *love* the nice clear links in the center (Download kits and tools, get code samples, etc).

The whole layout is really pretty great. Nice work to all, Diane.

I found a lot of new content, too. Very cool.

Bravo to the WDK docs team!

A bunch of us documentation writers (and managers! :)) at Microsoft have just finished spending the better part of the last year going through the Hardware Dev Center and everything in it. We reorganized the whole site and redid a bunch of the top-level pages. Perhaps more importantly, we think we’ve eliminated every web page and whitepaper that was not worth keeping (or no longer worth keeping). (Note: Many of the old whitepapers can still be downloaded from the Download Center for the time being. You just can’t get to them from the HW Dev Center.)
The new Dev Center redesign went live late yesterday. We hope you like it!

Cheers,

–Diane

Sorry about the redundant post. My earlier post actually got bounced by the listserv for looking too similar to a post I sent to NTFSD. But then it showed up on NTDEV anyway. My bad for not double-checking!
