Windows fiesystems basics

Hi to all,

I am a graduate student at the State University of New York at Stony
Brook. I have been working on Linux filesystem development as part of my
coursework as well as my interest.

I got to know about this group for Windows filesystem development. Please
advise me as to what would be the best way to get to learn about Windows
filesystems basics, so that I will be able to learn/contribute to this.
Also please let me know as to how I can proceed with programming for
developing tweaks to the filesystem.

Awaiting your replies,

Regards,
Avinash.

If you can get your hands on it (it is apparently worth more than it’s
weight in gold now) “Windows NT File System Internals” by Nagar is also
a good thing to read for starters, IMHO. Check out all the osronline
articles as well.

IFS kit is a must.

It contains the header files with the necessary kernel functions declared, the
documentation, real-world FASTFAT and CDFS as samples, real-world RDBSS with
simplified MRXSMB also as samples.

Rajeev Nagar’s book is also needed very much.
