windows device driver development courses

Hello,
I am interested in learning windows device driver development.
I stay in Pune, Maharashtra, India; completed Computer engg and working in a
software company.
Are there any windows device driver development courses available in or near
Pune?
I checked with many training institutes but they generally offer Linux
courses.
It will be great if you can suggest any courses for windows device driver
development.

Thanks and Regards,
Shri

Hi Shri,

Having spent several weeks looking for Windows driver classes myself
quite recently, I have to unfortunately tell you that any Windows driver
class is few and far between. If you are looking for a class that is
actually worth attending, this makes it even harder.

From my limited exposure in the Windows driver community, there are
probably only two places that I can recommend you spend your time and
money on, anything that might be offered by Oney, and anything OSR
offers. I have the Oney book (Programming the Microsoft Windows Driver
Model, 2nd ed.) and he generally does a very good job describing what’s
going on and has obviously written drivers himself. It’s a reference
that I often go back to but it doesn’t seem that he offers classes that
often.

I also had the chance to attend a week long OSR class on WDM, and it was
fantastic. OSR is a group that actually knows what’s going on, has
written drivers, and presents all of this information extremely well.
The information I got from the class is another reference that am
constantly reviewing. (And I’m also planning on going back for the 2nd
class later this year).

Besides these two, I don’t know if you have any other options besides
reading the DDK. (Of course I could be wrong and if I am would love to
hear about other alternatives from anyone.)

Best Regards,
-Mike

Hi Mike,

How much did it cost you to attend the OSR classes?

You should also look at AZIUS, www.azius.com. I believe that Walter now
teaches with them (Caitlin/Hanrahan). If I am wrong then I am sure Walter
will smite me severely about the head and shoulders.
