Window's Cluster Server's relation to NTFS

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone tell me how tightly Window’s Cluster Server software is
intertwined with NTFS? Presumably, MSCS works by broadcasting new
metadata changes to the Clustered Server Group, which would mean that it
needs access to NTFS’s metadata. Is there a published API for this? Can
one easily write their own Clustered Failover software to run with NTFS?

Thanks,
Casey

The last time I checked, there was almost NO connection between MSCS and NTFS. Metadata is not shared among cluster nodes with MSCS. There is only a single owner of the data on a shared disk at any given time. The only changes to NTFS I know of had to do with dismounting a disk during failover to get cached data flushed to disk.
