Window CE developing tools

Hi everyone,

I am a beginner to Windows CE. I want to develop a transport driver in Windows CE. For Win2k, we can use SoftICE. But what I should do with WinCE. Does anyboy know what kind of developing and debug tools I should use?

Thanks and Regards
Elton

Look into getting Platform Builder. It includes all of the header and lib
files for building drivers. If you have control of your platform, you can
also use it to do kernel debugging.

It is a Microsoft tool that is similar in look and feel to Visual Studio.
You can get an evaluation version for free (or the price of shipping) from
the MS website (sorry I don’t have a link). The evaluation version is good
enough for building drivers since it includes all of the header and library
files you need. If you actually want to build and license your own CE OS
image, your need to pay about $2500 to get the real version.

CE .NET (aka Platform Builder 4.0) was recently on sale for $1000 - you
might want to contact BSQUARE or one of the other distributors to see if
that’s still the case.

Dows someone know whether CE.NET is a substitute for Platform Builder 3.0.

In particular, can I build drivers for the current PocketPC 2002 with
CE.NET?

If not, is the older Platform Builder 3.0 still available?

IIRC, PocketPC 2002 is still WinCE 3.0 underneath… The next version
should be CE.NET.
