I need to do some Window Server 2012r2 kernel debugging on a target running on VMWare ESXi (not workstation, the normal VMWare hypervisor server). The debugger machine will need to be in a Hyper-V VM, which I assume should not be a problem. I’m hoping I can just configure an Intel virtual NIC in the VMWare VM and use bcdedit to enable network kernel debugging.
Does anybody know if configuring the VMWare Intel virtual NIC works as a kernel debug network device? Some online posts I saw said no, and one said yes if you UEFI boot the OS.
Does anybody here do this frequently and have configuration suggestions. I suppose if this is known not to work, it would save me a bunch of head bashing to know this.
Thanks,
Jan
