Just wondering why the sfilter sample doesn’t show up in the Services
Console after being installed with its inf.

AFAIK drivers are not there.

But it goes into the Registry under Services. And it would be nice to be
able to disable a filter or change it’s start mode from the Services
Console. But you think that because there’s a .sys that goes into the
drivers directory, the system doesn’t keep track of it in the Services
Console? It seems like there ought to be something you could do in the
INF to make the filter show up in Services. But maybe not. Thanks for
any more thoughts that are out there.

query drivername” or “sc qc drivername”.

You can usually find your driver in the Device Manager if you select
“View”->“Show Hidden Devices”. This displays the Non-Plug and Play and
“Legacy” drivers.
The items in the Services registry key are filtered by “Type” when displayed
in the Service mgmt or Devices UI. Yes, it is a single DB managed by the SCM
and using the SC utility lets you diddle just about anything other than your
private params and data.
