Why "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" not enabled by default?

Hi

Does anyone know Why “Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby” not enabled by default?

Also, in Vista how to modify to Registry keys without running the application as Administrator? Is it possible to change the privilages of the application to a higher level so that, with out explicitly telling the application to run in Administrator mode.

Please explain.

Are you asking about all devices in general or a specific device like a usb hub?

Which registry keys are you asking about? Different keys in the registry have differect ACLs. If the key is protected so that only administrators can write to it, then there is a reason for that.
