Maybe I fail to understand what you are discussing,
Check the archives, and you will understand what I am speaking about. At this point you are going to realize that everything that you have mentioned in your post are, in actuality, almost “success stories”. It does not always end up this way.
For example, you are going to find a thread where the poster was looking for a way to handle interrupts in the user mode. There is nothing outstanding about it… apart from the fact that he had been doing it FOR 6 MONTHS!!! Another poster was “not convinced” that you cannot wait at elevated IRQL… after almost a YEAR (!!!) of asking questions in the NG. When it was pointed out to him, he said that “I’ve got no time to read documentation”. Yet another poster was flooding the NG with his questions for a couple of month, and it was obvious from his posts
that he totally ignored all our advice and did not bother himself with reading a single doc on the
subject (in the end of the day he turned absolutely everyone against himself by his stupidity - at this point he started “playing a victim”). The list goes on and on…
It is obvious that all these people did not do their “research” for free - someone was paying them for their “work”, but still they failed to produce anything that may work at least once in a while…
