Isn’t this the IRP for Major function (MJ) Read? Which is supposed to mean
that the OS is asking to read stuff from your device/file system.

Thats right… but if i’m guessing right he’s
wondering where the * comes from.

Filemon shows (logs) a * next to requests if IRP_PAGING_IO or
IRP_SYNCHRONOUS_PAGING_IO is set in pIrp->Flags.
