_VWIN32_InitWin32Event

hi all!
who knows - why _VWIN32_InitWin32Event service can not be found in ddk98/lib ? where is it?

Simply it’s not documented (just like a whole bunch of other VWIN32 services) but it is intensively used by NTKERN WDM emulation layer. If you’re interested in it I can provide you some more details about this service in private e-mail.

Yes! i’m interested in it, cause i’m trying to change with these services next functions: KeWaitXXX, KeInitializeXXX…
I can not achieve stably working synchronization between driver and app. KeWaitXXX sometimes freeze system during timeout. Can you help me in this way?

It’s entirely possible to get synchronization working stably without
such extreme measures. Hacking this is likely to lead to system
instability unless you know more about it than Microsoft.

You’re aware that VXD and user mode event handles are not the same in
Win9x, right? The way we deal with this is to create the event in user
mode using CreateEvent, and then call OpenVxDHandle on that event handle
to get a Ring0 handle, which we then pass down to the driver in an
IOCTL. There are other solutions, of course…
