usbhub.sys on win7 x64 problem

Hi,

I was brave enough to upgrade one of my laptops to Win7 x64 Ultimate from Vista. The usb ports and audio jack on my docking station have stopped working since then. The device manager yellow banged on a USB device (no driver installed). The VID/PID suggests this is a “Port replicator” device. On vista, msft usbhub.sys will install on it as “Generic USB HUB”. Why Windows 7’s usbhub doesn’t like it? I was tempted to modify and sign the inf to force it to install.

It’s a Dell Latitude D830 with docking station if that matters.

Thanks,

Is the port replicator attached via usb or a custom pinned connector? Is usb, is it made by kensington?

I don’t know what it is. All I know is that the OS enumerates it when I dock my laptop. So I think it’s somewhere inside the docking station. It’s directly from dell. I don’t know who made it. See the sample picture at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/DELL-Laptop-Docking-Station-PR01X-P-N-2U444-A05_W0QQitemZ280401034336QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLaptop_Docking_Stations?hash=item4149343c60&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

The HW ID is: USB\VID_413c&PID_0058&REV_0000, comp_id is: USB\Class_09&SubClass_00&Port_01.
