It is possible to install and use multiple versions of the bag on the same
system. But it drivers me nuts that the installer is se “smart” that it
only allows an upgrade if you have WinDBG installed. So since I want
several versions of the bag installed, whenever I need to install a new
version, I remove all the versions from my system, then reinstall them in
reverse order of rev!
Could Microsoft please have an overide to so this idiotic behavior can be
kept in check?

Jason,
I tried xcopy once, the old version stopped working. In the end I
just had to clean up more than spending the up to an hour, to remove
everything, reinstall everything, and recover everything. I realize that
the WinDBG team has a lot of its plate, but please consider this a request
for a future revision.

Why not do this?
- Xcopy /e <current_ver> c:\windbag\6.4.7
- upgrade <current_ver> to the latest
Alternatively (and unfortunately less useful), I believe the windbg that
comes with the DDK is packaged as ‘dbg_arch.msi’ and ‘setup_arch.exe’.
And you can run the following to do an install without an upgrade:
Setup_arch.exe /z /q /i “%DestDir%”
Unfortunately, our web released binaries do not provide this
flexibility. There are hacky ways to accomplish what you want, but in
the end an xcopy + upgrade is still your best solution.
