Sideband communication with filter driver

Hi Doron

I have a question regarding a comment you 've made in the following thread “The CDO disappear”

https://www.osronline.com/showthread.cfm?link=245154

You mentioned:

“The app needs to register for handle notifications on the cdo and you need to
preprocess pnp/query device relations on the cdo and answer with one of the pnp
pdos as the target”

You could please clarify this statement?

I don’t understand:

a) what changes it implies doing in the user mode app.
b) does it require any changes to the toaster filter driver example.

Thank you.

And did you notice his suggestion that you use raw PDOs instead, which
bypass this problem very neatly?

Tim, yes I did notice, I am just trying to understand what first alternative is about.

A) The app registers for file handle notifications as normal

B) The toaster filter driver does need to change as described, preprocess the qdr/target device relations and send it down a pnp stack
