Hi, all.
Who can explain me the following situation:
OS: WinXP
I have network share with User limit = 1.
When I start 2 application on another computer that copy files to share
simulteneously all work fine.
But when I start 1 application and 1 service that copy files to share
simulteneously 0x80070047 returned. Why? Service is running undo the same
account as application.
In 2nd scenario you have different login credentials for the 2 processes
– Therefore 2 users.
Error code is: “No more connections can be made to this remote computer
at this time because there are already as many connections as the
computer can accept.”

Why 2 different login credentials? Service is running under the same
account.
Do you mean that 2 instance of 1 user can be logged in simulatneously? And
how many users will be when 3 services and 2 application will running under
the same account?

When you said “service” I assumed SYSTEM/MACHINE account - sorry.
In your case, I would hazard a guess that the service has a differenct
WorkStation/WindowStation object associated with it and therefore a
different logon instance from your desktop.
That’s the best I guess I can give you. Someone more knowledgeable in
this area might have the right answer.

Are you sure that the service is running under the same user. Services can
be configured to work under different user credentials. Mostly services run
under NT AUTHORITY\LocalService. Check the credentials for the service from
“device manager->services”.

In another logon session anyway.
Do you mean that 2 instance of 1 user can be logged in simulatneously? And
how many users will be when 3 services and 2 application will running under
the same account?
4 logon sessions, assuming both apps are started from the same interactive UI.
3 service logon sessions and 1 interactive.

WinStas are not 1-to-1 related to logon sessions.
When you use the shell’s “Run As” feature, you create another logon session on
the same WinSta.
On the other hand, all services share the same WinSta, but - the ones not
running under LocalSystem - have a personal logon session for each.

Even if 2 services run under the same user, they run each in a personal logon
session create by SC for it. Well, all of this is logged to Security log if the
proper policies are allowed
