Running unsigned drivers on Win 8

At first I followed the ‘click here, click there, select this, reboot twice, etc etc etc’ but having enabled the Administrator account, I discovered the old win 7 bcdedit method works perfectly well.

I assume most everyone else is aware of this already, but its odd it doesn’t show up on a google search.

No one has any comments on this? Surely this is a better way than messing around with the ridiculous GUI on win 8 and the numerous reboots needed?

I’ll comment that I don’t understand your post, if that helps you any.

What are you talking about? Your post said “hey, the GUI to set test
mode is awkward, but bcdedit still works!”

That’s not really an invitation for comments. Yes, it’s true. With
very few exceptions, everything that worked in Win 7 still works in Win 8.1.

Personally, I don’t like the notion of running unsigned drivers for
testing. I want my test environment to match my client’s environment.
So, I pay $100 a year to get a certificate, and I sign my drivers with a
legitimate certificate. I never have mess around with test mode.
