Regarding 98 and ME IFS

hi,
I Know that there is an IFS Kit for 2000 and above version for
developing file system filter drivers, Can anybody tell me what can i
do for 98 and ME. As i am intrested in developing file system filter
driver in 98 and ME OS.

Others will concur with me: Too late to start developing for those OSes, as they
will not be developed any more.
But if you still wish to do it, DriverStudio from NuMega (more specifically
VToolsD) has an IFS sample for Me, which is quite sufficient for start. But you will
find it QUITE hard to develop a fully blown driver, as help will be MINIMAL, if any
(noone but startups in 9x IFS go around VXD newsgroups).

The only worthwhile book I’ve found is “Inside the Windows 95 File System”
by Stan Mitchell, if you can still find it. The model is completely
different than the NT IFS, however, so you’ll need to forget most of the
stuff you know about NT drivers.

One or two minor points. The IFS Kit was first released for Windows NT 4
SP?. This newsgroup is for NT and not 9x. I see some questions in the
Microsoft device.drivers newsgroup, but little is being done there anymore -
I hope!
