Recommendations on USB protocol analyzers

I need to buy a decent USB protocol analyzer (hardware, not software). Cost
is relevant, as always, but quality is more important than cost.

Can anyone here recommend a decent USB analyzer? Your experience is
appreciated.

Hi,

We use the Ellisys 200 here:

Works great and you can’t beat the price.

We use both Ellisys 110 and 200. I also have an experience with CATC which is a bit more robust but much more expensive. Ellisys 110 is rather sensitive to USB errors, even such errors HC doesn’t notice at all. Usually a noise at wires and capturing stops at the first error whereas CATC continues capturing with no problem. On the other hand, it is unusual scenario which I noticed only with some our developers boards prototypes which had long wires and weren’t correctly shielded.

Otherwise Ellisys works great and the price is very reasonable. I’d recommend to download their software and example logs to see if it fulfils your needs. Not bad but I prefer CATC way to display info.

BTW, I’d recommend to buy 2.0 version even if you have only 1.1 devices. Once we had a problem which could be reproduced only when our 1.1 device was attached to 2.0 hub and it was necessary to capture traffic between hub and HC.

If you want quality then buy CATC/LeCroy USB analyzers:
http://www.catc.com/
I used them and they worked great.
