RE: Why do we see FileDispostionInformation DeleteFil e FALSE?

I also observed this behavior of explorer. I guess that explorer trying to
validate that file can be deleted before moving it to recycle. The only
reliable way to do this is to ask file system by sending SetInformation


The Windows Explorer, when moving a file to the Recycle Bin will:

  • Open the file for delete access
  • Mark the file to be deleted (prevents anyone else from getting a handle
  • Rename the file
  • Reset the delete disposition.
  • Close the file

If this isn’t true any longer, I do know it used to do this.
