Hello,
I tried to create a non-volatile key under a volatile
key under Windows 2000 using regedit.exe and it failed
with the error code of ERROR_CHILD_MUST_BE_VOLATILE.
Can you please clarify me the circumstance under which
you were able to create a non-volatile key under
volatile key?
Also, it doesn’t seem logical to allow such thing.
Since if the child is persistent then its parent must
also be persistent in order to maintain the complete
registry path.
