RE: Timeline for ntifs.h to be combined into the WDK

Yes. The version of the WDK scheduled for release with Longhorn Beta 1
will contain the IFSKit components.

Subject: [ntfsd] Timeline for ntifs.h to be combined into the WDK

I’ve installed Longhorn build 5048 from DevCon 2005
and am now looking at the WDK that was provided at
DevCon. I noticed that doing a complete install of
the WDK doesn’t install ntifs.h.

The WDK documentation indicates that it will be a
combination of the DDK, IFS and HCT kit documentation.
Also at the IFS PlugFest event last week I saw that
Microsoft will be combining the IFS kit and the DDK
into the WDK. Searching online doesn’t reveal any
official dates for this to occur. (But it does reveal
a link to a .doc file showing how the header files are
being merged).

Is the combination of the IFS and DDKs into the WDK
something that we can expect to see in the Longhorn
Beta 1 timeframe?

Thanks
Lee
