I think nobody wants this but what choises to consumers have ? If
they had a choise Microsoft wouldnt sell half of it’s software is my
guess.

Ok, let me speak for myself.

On average I visit a friend once or twice a month to fix something on
their PC because it no longer works. Why ? Nobody knows because error
messages etc are impossible to understand for average users. And
speaking for myself my last 3 updates went like this:

  • Upgrading to Netscape 6. Seems like my PC is 5 times slower
  • Upgrade to Adobe reader 5.0 No longer works now because it needs
above mentioned service pack it seems
  • Upgrade to service Pack 6. Blue screen and reinstall PC.

Sure, we all love MS but I buy a competitors COMPETING product any day
if one exists.

Who said I love Microsoft? Microsoft is a company that produces the primary
products that are used to derive my paycheck. No I don’t love Microsoft. I
love my wife and my kids and my dogs, whereas I use what Microsoft produces
to provide for and feed all the above. I do get awfully tired of someone
proclaiming Microsoft to be the evil empire.

In 54 years I’ve learned this — there ain’t nothing perfect made by man,
and no one can agree on what is best. You like LINUX — I think LINUX sucks
hind tit. I like Windows — you think Windows sucks hind tit. You use
Netscape, I won’t allow Netscape on my systems. You like SoftIce, I think
SoftIce is overpriced and not any better than WinDbg. Ever hear of FORTH?
Not fit for an electric butt-wiper but there were some that wanted to use it
for nuclear weapons and power plant controls. Now THAT is FRIGHTENING!!!

Life by definition is not static — things change all the time, they either
grow or they decay. I used to like OS/2 and thought Windows sucks hind tit.
Guess I changed, didn’t I?

Absolutely corect Garry, me flaming Microsoft was kinda childigh I have
to admit. “Nothing made by man and no man or women is perfect”. Doesn’t
that say it all :)))

Still, I really like to see the big companies (and we small guys will
follow as usual) spend some more energy and money in making their
products easier to use for their customers. Why don’t they pick someone
from the street, have them fix a few of those ‘rare’ PC problems that I
bet they can’t and then think of a solution for how these same users
will be able to fix them next time around. As a start stop using those
stupid computer terms to explain the problem, (helloooo we donn’t have a
clue :)))

That should be about 3 man years I suppose.

Jos.
