Tell your boss “I need a week to study this technology”. Then read the MSDN’s
DDK docs (general and the driver technology you need in your project), 8 hours
per day as your work. Possibly reading 1-2 DDK samples is a good idea.

Well, with FSDs and FltMgr, this is by far more then a week :-). You need to
know the general kernel concepts. You need to know the FSDs stuff. You need to
know the FltMgr stuff. All of this will require major time to study and
comprehend.

Your boss can choose otherwise, but then he will lose a lot more then a week on
debugging phase.
