Re: ??: Re: timestamp driver activities

BTW, to answer the underlying question, there’s also no need to use
RDTSC. KeQueryPerformanceCounter and KeQueryInterruptTime provide the
necessary higher resolution time information without being processor
dependent.

God forbid that someone would use something not in the DDK API ! The world as we know it would end!

This email list is remarkable for its willingness to regurgitate the same
stupid discussions over and over again. Being a participant I have the same
behavior pattern, and so:

Sure go ahead and use assembly language in your driver for no reason
whatsoever, as the DDK api provides platform independent access to this
functionality. Hurt yourself as much as you want. I’m sure that your
employer will appreciate your efforts to lower your productivity and
increase their NRE. What product are you working on?

Had you followed this thread and understood the context in which the
question was asked, and were you at least moderately skilled in NT
development, you would have observed fools wondering why their idiocy wasn’t
working well being advised by na?ve idiots on how to make their foolery
worse. I’m surprised A*o hasn’t chimed in to inform us on how he patches the
processor microcode to tweak certain functionality out of it.

I apologize for my excessive grumpiness. It is early. It is humid. I haven’t
finished my coffee.
