MS already knows your hardware profile if your using XP or above.
Windows Activation uses this approach.
Regarding privacy, I’m more concerned about Google at this point. I
really don’t care if MS knows my CPU’s serial number
or MAC address.
I just imagine the many end-users having hotmail addresses letting MS send
the updated files to the hotmail account. Up to now they “only” had your
online profile, now they even have your computer’s profile to match it up
with the other profile(s).
Your online profile is comprised of information you volunteered - that’s
your problem (don’t mean to sound rude). After all,
they could match the IP you used during windows activation too the IP
you used when sending hotmail emails if you want
to get into conspiracy…
