RE: off topic making the bios think a keyboard is pre sent , whena real on is not

There are “switch boxes” that do this such as Belkin’s OmniView, but these are
outside the budget you mentioned since they’re typically around $100.

I can think of two ways, but both may need some hardware work. One is to
change the bios and burn the eprom again, but you need to find where the
keyboard tests are being done. The other is to put an 8051 or similar in a
breadboard and program it to simulate ports 60/64 and thus fool the bios.

Beware of such switching boxes - some have the hardcoded switching
sequence of Ctrl-Shift-1/2, which will lead the user to change his/her text
editor use habits :-(, since Ctrl-Shift is too widely used in the editors
for all kinds of stuff.

I have purchased some no-named switcher which works great for both AT and
ATX kbd/mouse cabling (it even contains the PS/2 mouse->serial mouse
translator), except this annoying feature - I now use Alt-E+C instead of
Ctrl-C or Ctrl-Ins and Alt-F+S instead of Ctrl-S
