Mark,
It may be “insider” information, but it is true. Thus far the driver I am
developing has no problems in either 2000 or XP. However, they have cranked
up the tolerance screw another notch in XP, so that now drivers that were
fine in 2000 now fail in XP. I have found and fixed several bugs under XP
that 2000 gleefully overlooked.
Andre,
How or where do I get the right symbols? Should I install the retail or
debug symbols even though I’m using the retail build?

Well that is an ‘inside perspective’ vs. an ‘outside perspective’. W2K has
just started to replace NT4 as the primary NT platform. There are still
plenty of ‘outsiders’ doing NT4 development. Take a look at this mailing
list, people are constantly qualifying their questions with “I’m working on
an NT4 driver that has to do blortz”. The primary target for NT right now is
W2K not an unreleased Beta OS.
