Fresh messages (not replies) have no trace of the original, so are
not necessarily filtered out. The problem is, of course, even with
this robot demon, I still get vacation responses from all over whenever
I post to this list.

This is because they are sent directly to sender address and ignore reply-to
field. It is necessary to make a protection against oofenders. I made one
and it works – see my e-mail address. Also, I received only one rejected
message and it was for the last mail I sent with my valid address.

It isn’t easy to use such e-mail address; there are problems with
subscribtion and “smart” mailservers as m$exchange is. The best solutions
would be if listserv mangles all sender addresses this way. PeterGV agreed
he will check if it is possible some time before but he is probably too busy
(are you hearing Peter? :).
