RE: [NTDEV] Queue Management

I wouldn’t expect “pushfd/cli/…popfd” to work on any processor other than
an Intel processor. However, were an ExInterlockedRemoveEntryList function
added to the HAL and I compile my driver for a Power PC HAL, I would expect
that call to function in the same way. The overall purpose here is not to
stand on a soapbox and shout, “Who cares, they’ll screw it up anyway!”, but
to know there is a big enough presence in the development community that
would use such an extension.

Sometimes it really is difficult not to bash that big bad ol’Microsoft ain’t
it? but then not all of us are blessed with the genius and ability to
write perfect code, Thomas.

One of the worst problems that I see when Microsoft actually does extend
APIs to improve/fix things is the proliferation of OS-dependent code.

If there is 1.) a workaround that works on all platforms of interest 2.) a
new spiffy function or bit to set in a later platform that eliminates the
workaround then WHO CARES about the spiffy net thing. For all practical
purposes the new thinggy is useless. More trouble then it’s worth…

Regards,

Thos.
