I tried to install the driver with the 2-layered INF files(see below). We can
see the USB device and Port Device from the Device Manager. But, when you
click the Port Device to see the driver details, there’s no port number
information in it(but you can find a COM5 in the registry).
Anyone knows the reason? thanks.

As we’ve found that, to install a USB CDC Modem device(WDM) under Windows
98, you have to define 2-layered inf, one to indicate a USB device and
install
your own WDM driver with CCPORT.SYS, the other to indicate a Modem
device(ChildID) and install WDMMDMLD.VXD.This is concluded in Window 2000
DDK
documentation.
But what is the driver stack for USB Serial Port under Windows 98? Is it
also right to use the 2-layered inf? Or, due to the different architecture,
there is no WDM form USB Serial Port driver under Windows 98(that means,
you
have to implement the USB serial port driver in VxD form).Could you share some information on this? Thank you in advance.
