RE: Microsoft WHQL-HCT test failing when filesystem insta lled

Try http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/handle.shtml
You can use it to see the programs that have a file open, or to
see the object types and names of all the handles of a program

Subject: [ntfsd] Microsoft WHQL-HCT test failing when filesystem
installed

When my optical filesystem is installed on W2K, running the Microsoft HCT
test fails the manual PNP test suite with the following error:

QueryRemove Adapter
QueryRemove Adapter FAILED 0x17 CR_REMOVE_VETOED
VetoType = PNP_VetoOutstandingOpen
VetoName =
IDE\CdRomMATSHITA_UJDA720_DVD/CDRW_______________1.01____\5&29356cf8&0&0.0.0

The docs state that “PNP_VetoOutstandingOpen” means there is an open
handle so the QUERY_REMOVE request was denied. How can I view open
handles? And how do I find out who the creator of the handle is? I
assume the open handle is to the volume on the device being removed (CDRW
drive)…but I don’t even have to be mounted for this error to occur.

Thanks in advance,
Fred.
