RE: IM_IBM ( Debugger terminates process on terminat-ion - )

During PDC 2000, MS Debugger guys presented VS (7).NET
and they have this feature: attach/debug and detach
without killing the debuggee.

The way they implement it: create a “driver” process
dedicated to Attach/Debug the debuggee and make VS7
communicate with it to pilot the debuggee. Once the
debugging session ends, the “driver” process stays
in its debugging loop and lets the debuggee running.

If you just need to get the OutputDebugString() from
a non debugged application, use DebugView from
www.sysinternals.com or build your own from the
DBMON sample of plateform SDK
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/psdk/tools/dbgutil_7vle.htm)

Once attached as a debugger you cannot detach. You must wait until the
process terminates normally.

hi
I have build a custom debugger for user mode Debug
Messages enumerated in DEBUG_EVENT structure.
As with other debuggers like VC6.0 debugger. The
programme I attach to the debugger is also terminated
upon debugger termination. I am using
DebugActiveProcess
WaitfordebugEvent
ContinuedebugEvent
API’s . I want the process to be continuing after its
debugger is terminated how can i do it .
