Oh really?

Then why does a university education require the parents to spend close to
100,000 US dollars? Why is there matriculation at MIT, or Harvard, or
wherever-U? Why did it take me 10 years to pay off my student loans after I
graduated from college?

No. Information is information, it has no intrinsic quality of
“freeness” (or “non-freeness”), it just /is/.

It has no wants, no needs.

The originator of the information can distribute it in the manner they see
fit. The decision rests entirely with them. They might distribute the
information for free, they might not. It doesn’t alter the nature of the
information one iota.

logic kicks ass:
(1) Horses have an even number of legs.
(2) They have two legs in back and fore legs in front.
(3) This makes a total of six legs, which certainly is an odd number of
legs for a horse.
(4) But the only number that is both odd and even is infinity.
(5) Therefore, horses must have an infinite number of legs.

(3) This makes a total of six legs, which certainly is an odd number of
legs for a horse.
(4) But the only number that is both odd and even is infinity.
(5) Therefore, horses must have an infinite number of legs.

I will also say that I do not agree with most IP laws and patent laws,
but they are what they are.

In an ideal world, all information would be free; by law. Anyone can
build upon anything. Anyone can build the same thing someonelse does. It
is a tough world out there. If you are not prepared to tackle the market
place (for whatever reason), stay out or take your punches and move one.

Like Netscape. What a bunch of vaginas. “Please protect me from the
bully. Spread the wealth. That?s not fair. I don’t have enough money to
compete with Microsoft…”. Then find another job!

Cry babies.

No. Information is information, it has no intrinsic quality of
“freeness” (or “non-freeness”), it just /is/.

It has no wants, no needs.

The originator of the information can distribute it in the manner they

see fit. The decision rests entirely with them. They might
distribute the information for free, they might not. It doesn’t alter

the nature of the information one iota.

To stop people from distributing information in a manner in which the
originator of the information doesn’t see fit.

But your question is a non-sequitur. It suggests that IP laws in some way
stop the information from spontaneously distributing itself. That is
ludicrous – the information is not sentient, and has no “desire” to be
free (or non-free). As such, IP laws restrict the actions of those who
seek to distribute information, and not the actions of the information
itself.

I would disagree that this is any instric feature of the information
(information has no memory, and does not typically contain any indication
as to the nature of its origin). It is very much an extrinsic
feature. The value you place on such effort is entirely up to you – if
you don’t regard the information as useful, you might consider the effort
to be of no value, a waste of time/money/etc…

It is, however, a reason (IMO) to support the desire of the
information-creators to restrict the distribution of that information, so
that they might gain some compensation for their efforts in the manner
that they see fit.

But your question is a non-sequitur. It suggests that IP laws in some
way stop the information from spontaneously distributing itself. That
is ludicrous – the information is not sentient, and has no “desire” to
be free (or non-free). As such, IP laws restrict the actions of those
who seek to distribute information, and not the actions of the
information itself.

logic kicks ass:
(1) Horses have an even number of legs.
(2) They have two legs in back and fore legs in front.
(3) This makes a total of six legs, which certainly is an odd number of
legs for a horse.
(4) But the only number that is both odd and even is infinity.
(5) Therefore, horses must have an infinite number of legs.

Why my favorite C++ vs. C subject stopped? I want to know everybody’s
opinion which language is better.

Do you like playing Doom in Nightmare mode? When dead creatures respawn
after a while? It isn’t fair. Ultra violence is enough and it was already
used in mentioned thread.

Oh, you’re right. A new “information” creature was already born. But what if
somebody doesn’t notice irony and really respawn dead one?

In the name of God/Allah/Budda or whatever divinity you follow (or maybe
“Pete” for atheists).

NO NO NO NO NO!

I think everyone is fed up to the hind teeth about C vs C++ and WinDbg
vs SoftICE discussions.
Use the tool that YOU think is best for you and be happy!
