Small correction: the mfc42.dll filename was retained by MFC up
to and including vc6.0.
Thus versions of mfc42.dll were included with most releases of
Windows, I.E., Office, many third party apps, etc. from late 1995
until at least early 2001. At some point Microsoft even documented
that if I.E. 4 or later was installed, application developers need
not ship mfc42.dll…
