as far as I remember they have an intermediate file (“staging area”) , the
IMAPI stash file “StashIMAPI.bin”,
where files are held before they are copied to the CD. It’s a raw file up
to 800 MB in size.
imapi consists of imapi.exe IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service (and xy.Dlls) and
there’s a driver involved
(lower filter to CdRom)

Hi All,
How does explorer burn the selected files to the CD in Windows XP, I mean
how is the CD burning implemented in XP, does it use some component or does
the windows explorer it self does the burning job and does it treat any
difference in the read only and read write CDs.
My general oberservation on some CD burning softwares is that they create a
image and then write the image to the CD through disk driver with out going
through file system.
Any information is helpful.
Thanks,
Kedar.
