Quick Question on MinnowBoard MAX board

Hi Peter,

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn781278(v=vs.85).aspx

Is this board can be useful for a developer who wants to get started with Windows device driver development (not a software driver)?

Is SoC related source code available on msdn or Intel? Source code of Power Engine Plugin(PEP), HAL or drivers for devices which exist on the board?

Thanks

Hi Peter,

Why would you address this to Peter? This is a public forum; questions are answered by any of the many area experts who monitor the list.

That depends on what drivers you’re interested in learning. One issue with that board is that you have to deal with the details of working with an experimental motherboard. If you just want to play with hardware drivers, there are a lot of USB experimenter’s kits you can get that would connect to your ordinary desktop PC.

You need to ask the folks at minnowboard.org about this. They make and sell the board. You certainly do not get Windows source code, nor code for any driver that ships with Windows. The sample drivers in the WDK work on this board just like they do on a desktop PC.
