Querying for Reparse Data

Hi,
I need to implement a functionality where I need to Fail CreateFile call
if it is being opened for DELETE access and file is under “retention”. To
implement this, I am planning to store information in REPARSE tag.
Therefore, When I get CreateFile request, I need to query for reparse Data.
I came across FSCTL_GET_REPARSE_POINT control code but that requires a
FileObject. Is it possible to get Reparse Data using FileName or I have to
First open the file and then query? This is mini-filter model so I am
looking for Filter Manager Call.

No

or I have to First open the file and then query?

yes (don’t forget to set the flag which allows you to open reparse points).

I am looking for Filter Manager Call

FltFsControlFile/FSCTL_GET_REPARSE_POINT

Thanks Rod…
