Problems with NTDEV? Help!

Hi,

I’ve been member of NTDEV for quite some time now and receiving mails
regularly. Since past 3-4 weeks, my subscription was put on hold and
had to get it reverted back to normal (happened 4 times, to be precise).
The Lyris mails indicates that there was at least 5 mails that bounced
or was rejected from the server on my side, and has a line at the end,
which reads “—For your information, a non-delivery report is included
below:” but there is nothing following it. Since there no information
regarding the non-delivery of mails, it is not possible to get this
stuff resolved at my side. I’m a member of NTFSD, & WinDBG list, but
no problems with those mailing lists.

I had mailed to the xxxxx@osr.com (07/25), but no reply!

Has anybody been facing similar problems?

I did face similar problem a week back. I had received a mail from List
manager. I have pasted a part of the mail I received…

“Your membership can be restored to “normal”, by sending the command
“unhold”
to xxxxx@lists.osr.com

After this I did not have any problems. I hope you can have tried this
already?

Hi,

I did that. Its working fine after that. The problem is this keeps
happening very frequently as I had mentioned. Curious to find out
if it a problem with NTDEV server!

NTDEV, NTFSD, and WINDBG are all on the same server. They’re served by
exactly the same list manager software instance, the same nameserver, the
same LAN and T1s.

If you get mail from Lyris saying your mail’s been bouncing, and your
membership was put on hold, it’s because your mail’s been bouncing. Such is
life on the Internet in the early part of the 2000’s. Just unhold your
subscription… send the requested email or visit http://www.osr.com/lists
and log into the list. I realize you’d rather not have to do this, but I’m
not sure what we can do here at OSR to change it.

What I *will* do is increase the number of consecutive bounced mail attempts
required to hold a subscription, and see if that helps.

Also, FYI, now that our communications infrastructure is fully stable, the
listserver (serving all the lists) is scheduled for major overhaul and
upgrade. Perhaps that’ll solve the problems you’re seeing – perhaps it
will introduce different problems.
