Hello everyone,
I am writing a display driver for Windows 98/ME. I am
using Windows System Debugger debugger.exe (comes with Windows 2000/ME DDK)
and RTERM for remote debugging. I want to do source level debugging. My
debugger machine is running on Windows 2000 and my debuggee is on Windows
ME. Currently the situation is that I have installed debugger.exe on the
debuggee machine and running RTERM on the debugger machine. RTERM only
breaks the debuggee machine but we are unable to do source level debugging
with it. No traces are appearing on the RTERM terminal. I have set all the
symbols, source and Images path. If any one knows about it or could suggest
a better debugger, please tell me.
Also I don’t have Windows ME symbols. Can any one please tell me where could
I get it.
Waiting for a quick response.
Regards,
Muhammad Asif Fayyaz
Long time back (2+ yrs …), I tried exactly what you are trying using
RTERM, was able to debug at the src level, but was not quite as snappy as
windbg for nt debugee, basically i was trying to see if i want to learn just
one set of cmds for any debugger, and use it back and forth for win95+ and
nt families. There is lot of documents about using that path of debugging
under win95+… But luck did not get me too far on that approach, so I went
back to SoftIce…
Till today, whenever there is those problems no wants to touch ( like some
pathologist, they do biopsy on dead body, fairly safe profession I suppose
:), sometime comes down my way, and i use SOFTICE. The ver 2.7 that might
not be on the latest CD, does what I need to do, it might help you too.
