I am having a problem installing VS.NET Enterprise Architect on XPPRO.
When I first installed, VC++ would not create a project. The wizard
would run, but the files were not created and there was no error
generated. I uninstalled the VC++ component and reinstalled. I was then
able to create a project. However, I am unable to edit dialog box
controls. The Selected Object dropdown is loaded with strings that just
say “Selected Object” for each control on the dialog. Selecting one of
them from the dropdown causes the corresponding dialog item to be
selected. None of the properties for the selected item show in the
properties view, so I can’t change any of the item properties.
I also installed the MSDN Jan 2003 library. If I do a search either in
the integrated VS.NET ide, or the MSDN ide, the result list is filled
with rows that only have the letter ‘a’ at the beginning of the line
with no other information. There is no location or rank information
displayed in the list. Clicking on one of the rows will bring up the
associated topic; I just can’t tell what the topics are before clicking
them. I uninstalled and reinstalled MSDN with no change. I installed the
entire library to HD.
I installed the required component updates before installing VS.NET and
MSDN.
Visual Studio 6 is also installed on the system.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem may be?
