Problem of installing a KMDF driver

Hello,
I have a problem of installing the KMDF ndisprot driver on Windows 2000. The
driver I took from KMDF examples.

The installation failed and the debugger shows two error messages:

SPUTILS: Leak(2052 bytes) at …\inload.c line 2991 (allocation #19) in
process …\update.exe

WdfCoInstaller: WdfPreDeviceIstall: exit: error(1603)

Do I miss something during the installation?

I would appreciate any help.

I installed ndisprot sample from KMDF 1.1 on W2K without any issues.
Here are the steps I followed:

  1. built ndisprot driver and protnotify.dll using W2K fre build
environment of Windows 2003 server SP1 DDK.
  2. copied ndisprot.sys, ndisprot.inf, protnotify.dll and x86fre version
    of WdfCoinstaller01001.dll to a folder
  3. Followed instructions from ndisprot.htm file: In Network Connections
UI, select an adapter and open properties, Click Install, then Protocol,
and then Have Disk. Then point to the location of .inf and driver.

If you followed these steps and still see installation problems, can you
try installing any other KMDF driver such as toaster static bus driver.

Thanks,

Kumar

I tried to install a Check version of the driver before. When I switched to
the Free Build everything starts work fine.

Anyway thank you for your effort.
