PPP stack as user mode dll

Hi,
This might be off topic but i couldnt get the answer anywhere else.

Is it possible to implement Point to Point Protocol stack in user
mode???

I went through the msdn , and I did find out about routing protocol but
nothing about PPP …

any help or links will be greatly appericiated…

Thanx,
Manish

Yes, it is already implemented as user mode DLLs which work in cooperation
with NdisWan driver. Why do you want to implement it again? Search for EAP
in the MSDN to get some info.

Yes, EAP is one of PPP control protocols as LCP, IPCP, CHAP etc. PPP and CPs
are already implemented and this implementation and interfaces are mostly
undocumented. It is part of RAS or RRAS and consist from several kernel
drivers and user mode services which use CP DLLs. I don’t see a good way how
to reimplement it; it is rather complicated stuff. And it is impossible to
do it in user mode, at least one kernel driver is necessary even if you want
to implement only PPP over serial line without support for TcpIp. Maybe I’m
wrong and somebody will have better idea…

Well, one idea. Maybe you could open COM port from user mode as
HyperTerminal does and write PPP packets there. It should work but I never
tried it. You could do everything you want so actual PPP and CPs
implementation would be on you. Of course, no connection to NT network and
TCP stack.
