I just stumbled across this product. Does anyone here know nuch about this?
Have these people really reversed that much of ntfs? If so how much?? Or is
this using ntfsd.sys like captive?! Still reeling …
Cheers

A quick test would be to copy some real ntfs file to mounted paragon ntfs,
then see if all the streams are preserved or not ?

I don’t know anything about this thing,
but don’t forget about the Windows source code leak
this year. I’ve read somewhere that the leaked
sources of NT4 contained about 90% of the kernel,
maybe NTFS was there too.
If the authors have been reverse-engineering NTFS,
this would help them very VERY much.

Except this would be suicidal for them to do, IP-wise.
Linux had NTFS driver long before code leak:
http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/
yes, it was reverse-engineered from the disk-data.

This was IIRC not the first source leak from MS.
http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/
yes, it was reverse-engineered from the disk-data.
…and still far from being stable on writes.

There’s already an ntfs.sys filtered driver for Linux available for free,
obviating the need for either the paragon driver or the native ntfs hack for
99% of end users, much like how the ndiswrapper project is circumventing the
need to reverse engineer every WiFi card out in the market.

To answer original question:
Paragon NTFS support (btw, not only for Linux - it is integrated in their
product line as well as support for a lot of other filesystems) is a
completely stand-alone portable implementation.
